Theo Ling, 13, a pupil at Wellington School, has been awarded a Gold Medal and a Bronze Medal in the U21 European Wellington SchoolClay Pigeon Shooting Championships in Granada, Spain.

At 13, Theo was one of the youngest competitors to make the Great Britain team.

He won Gold in the U16 Olympic Trap and Bronze for the U21 Universal Trench discipline.

This weekend, Theo will be competing at the English Open in Bisley, which will hopefully qualify him for the World Championships in Slovenia in August

His brother, Edward beat his own record of 199/200 by scoring a fabulous 200/200 – the first person ever to achieve this – he made it even more of a family affair by wining the English title in the Olympic trap.

“It is really exciting competing as a family”, said Theo, “especially as I missed my school exams to go to Granada!”

The Year 8 pupil has been shooting since he was 8 and is the brother of Ed Ling, who competed for Great Britain in the London 2012 Olympics last summer and has won the World and European Championships.

His father, Stephen Ling, was a GB Olympic coach and British champion for the GB team and has been training his boys enthusiastically.
