Pupils at Wellington School have recorded the School’s best set of results for more than five years with an impressive 26% of grades at A*, 53% at A*-A, and approaching 80% at A*-B. A special mention should go to the four pupils who achieved 10 A* grades; Edward Peachey, Iona Perry, Ollie Rowe and Freddie Renyard.
Headmaster, Henry Price commented, ‘I often talk about the power of positive peer pressure and what struck me about this year group was the way they worked together and encouraged each other in the run up to the examinations in particular. Both the pupils and their teachers can be justifiably proud of these results, which are a tribute not only to the hard work, but also the teamwork and positive relationships among the staff and pupils at Wellington.’
In each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, more than 50% of grades were at A*; in Mathematics, nearly 70% of grades were at A*-A, and the School continued its strong tradition in Latin and Greek with outstanding results. At Wellington, the pupils study the more rigorous IGCSE (International GCSE) in Mathematics, English, Sciences and Modern Languages so their success is truly deserved.
“There are fabulous results across the full range of our departments and I am particularly pleased to see the improvement in Religious Studies and the strong performance in Modern Languages where we offer French, German and Spanish. Our curriculum caters for a range of interests and abilities and whilst it is easy to trumpet the A* and A grades, it is often the B and C grades where the achievement has been greatest. All of these results sit alongside the huge contribution that pupils make to the co-curricular life of the School, which I believe is a key part of a Wellington School education.”
