Wellington School Pupils Maths Feast
The winning team at the Maths Feast at the Met Office

A team of 4 Year 10 pupils beat off all opposition in a Maths “Feast” at the Met Office in Exeter.

Twenty schools sent teams along, but the winning combination of Joey Lam, Edward Peachey, Marco Leong and Anton Grishechkin worked well to answer a range of difficult questions that were aimed to stretch them beyond the mathematics they meet in GCSEs.  There were 6 challenging rounds and our team won four of these through hard work and strong and consistent application of their maths knowledge. They then had a tour of the building, including seeing the first parts of the new £97 million super computer.  The Feast was run by the Further Mathematics Support Program and our team ended up with 135 points out of 167 – the highest score of the day from 20 schools. A Wellington School pupil has performed outstandingly in the tough triathlon discipline to qualify for the National Triathlon Championships.
