Wellington_School_Staff_member_in_stocksPupils and staff at Wellington organised a charity day to raise funds for Shelterbox, who provide emergency shelter and supplies for families affected by disasters.

The day began with the whole school community wearing mufti.  Most people wore casual clothes but some brave students and staff braved fancy dress and even onesies!

At lunch time activities took place on the school field, and pupils were able to throw wet sponges at various members of staff in the stocks.  This event attracted a long queue with children viewing the 50p charge great value for money.

Other popular games included a penalty shoot-out, rugby drop goal competition and team activities such as shelter building and water carrying; using pieces of guttering to transport as much water as possible from one point to another.

So far the school has raised a fantastic £2,400 for Shelterbox which will buy four of the charities kits, which will help families affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
