Wellington_School_world_book_day_2014Pupils and staff at Wellington School crammed into the library at breaktime on Thursday 6th March to celebrate World Book Day.

Librarians at the school encouraged pupils and staff to fill the library to its rafters and read silently for 10 minutes to mark this special day.

Deputy Heads sat studiously alongside Year 7s and all read silently after a count-down and were timed precisely. 148 staff and pupils packed every corner of the library to help break last year’s record of 97.  Those involved enjoyed a wide variety of titles from H G Wells’ The War of the Worlds to Peter Radetsky’s The Invisible Invaders; Viruses and the Scientists who pursue them.

All those who attended were rewarded with biscuits once the silence was broken.
