West Buckland School A Level Results 2015West Buckland School students have delivered another excellent set of A-level results after 72% of all exams were passed at A*, A and B grades.  41% of all exams were awarded the top A* and A grades with the overall pass rate standing at 98%.

It is the ninth successive year at the school where well over two thirds of exams have been awarded the top A* to B grades.  Among the overall high level of performance have been some outstanding individual achievements, with a quarter of the 70 strong year group achieving three A grades or higher.

Charlotte Cornish and Andrew Loat both achieved a clean sweep of three A* grades each.  Charlotte is going on to study French at University College, London while Andrew has a place at Sheffield to study Mechanical Engineering.

Xan Wesolowski achieved A* grades in biology and chemistry, an A in maths and an A in his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which is equivalent to half an A-level.  Xan will now go on to study Biochemistry at University College, London.  Joel Quinn will also study Biochemistry at Imperial College, London after securing A* grades in biology and maths with an A in chemistry.  Ben Simmons was awarded A* grades in economics and maths along with an A in history and is taking a place at the University of Bath to study Economics and Politics.

Chester Williams also achieved A* grades in economics and PE with an A in geography.  Vicky Griffin was awarded an A* and two A grades and was another of three students undertaking the Extended Project to which she was awarded the top A grade.

Headmaster John Vick says: “For many years our Sixth Formers have been delivering excellent A-level results.  I am delighted such a high proportion of exams have been awarded the top A* to B grades.  Invariably these grades are required by the most competitive universities and many of our students will now go on to study their preferred courses at their first choice universities.

“It pleasing to see so many exceptional individual performances.  There are also many students who do not make the headlines but who have worked to the very best of their ability and achieved excellent results that they can be extremely proud of.  We wish all of our A-level students the very best for the future as they take their next steps into higher education or employment.”
