Pupils at Westbourne House Prep School have been awarded a total of 46 scholarships by some of the UK’s leading senior schools.

All Year 8 pupils secured a place at their chosen senior school, with many joining Brighton College, Lancing College and Seaford College.

Alison Withers, the registrar at Brighton College, said: “Brighton is always delighted to welcome children from Westbourne House; we find they are fantastic pupils, mature and well-rounded, with a zest for life and learning.”

The range of awards from senior schools encompasses academic, drama, music, choral, art and all-rounder scholarships, with a total of 17 sports scholarships. Over half of the Year 8 pupils and each of the 11 pupils in the Year 8 Scholarship set received at least one award.

Headmaster Martin Barker commented: “As a non-selective school, I feel this achievement is even greater than it might first appear and a ringing endorsement of our commitment to teaching a broad curriculum in depth. I would be surprised if any other prep school of similar size can report a similar level of achievement.”
