An A-Z of Sussex made by Westbourne House pupils was presented to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex whilst they were on their first trip to the county.

Made by 13 Year 6 pupils at the school, the A-Z of local Sussex attractions earned the children royal approval and was captured by the media.

Each pupil had chosen two letters of the alphabet and researched local places, food and famous people to match, It included pages on ‘D is for Dell Quay’, ‘F is for Fishbourne Roman Palace’ and ‘K is for Kipling’.

On emerging from Edes House in Chichester, Meghan Markle was first to shake the pupils’ hands and said: “I need to know all of your names!”

The A-Z was presented to her by Alex Witcomb from Westbourne House. Prince Harry commented: “You lot have a very, very similar uniform to what I had at Wetherby in London” after asking which school the children were from.

After several pieces to camera with various media outlets, which gave every pupil their moment in the limelight, they took the short journey back to school to re-join classes.
