Sixth Form student, Luke Taylor, has been voted U18 Player of the Year 2012 by the Hockey Writers Club Whitgift hockey win(HWC). He was present at the Annual Awards Presentation Lunch, held last week, to receive the prize.

The HWC, sponsored by Higgins Group plc, is an internationally-recognised organisation, comprising of writers, photographers, broadcasters and webmasters whose objective is to promote hockey.

According to the HWC website, “The nominations for this year's entry gave the adjudicating committee a difficult task, as the quality of the nominees was very high.”

Luke made his debut with East Grinstead's 1st XI in 2010, and coaches at the club’s academy during school holidays. He had a fantastic season last year, winning both the U18 Indoor and Outdoor Schoolboy national titles and captaining England in the Four Nations Cup, as well as being selected for the England U21 team at the age of 17.
