Windermere School World Dahl DayWindermere Preparatory School was overrun by characters from some of Roald Dahl’s best loved books as the school embraced all the fun and inventiveness of the Dahlicious Dress Up Day.

The Dahlicious Dress Up Day is a fun-filled fancy dress day in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. On Friday 25th September the school hall was an exciting roll call of Oompa-Loompas, Willy Wonkas, Matildas and the occasional Fantastic Mr Fox, to name but a few. Even more exciting for the children was that morning assembly was taken by Mr Willy Wonka himself (aka Mr Freeman, the Headmaster)!

Each child is asked to bring in £1 to donate to the charity, which believes that every child has the right to a more marvellous life, no matter how ill they are, or how short their life may be. The money raised is used to provide specialist children’s nurses and support for families living in poverty whilst caring for a seriously ill child.

Mrs Ferreira, Head of English at the School, was full of praise for the children and the staff; “We’ve had such an exciting day. It was great to see so many children, and staff, make such a huge effort with their costumes. It really is a wonderfully fun and creative way to raise money for such a good cause!”
