Simon Bucknall public speaking Bromsgrove Former pupil and renowned public speaker Simon Bucknall gave an inspiring speech at Bromsgrove School’s end of year celebration.

Bromsgrove School celebrated its annual Commemoration Day in glorious sunshine on Saturday 29th June. The day is a celebration of the end of the academic year as well as following the tradition set out by the Sir Thomas Cookes in 1693.

The guest speaker was Simon Bucknall, twice UK and Ireland Champion of Public Speaking. Simon was a pupil at Bromsgrove from 1990-1995, earning the role of Head Boy. He went on to study at Oxford University and is now rated in the top 20 out of 26,000 speakers worldwide.

Simon specialises in helping executives, politicians, academics, MBA students, postgraduates, entrepreneurs and leaders in the not-for-profit sector to connect, influence and inspire through the spoken word. His speech to the congregation focused on the journey through life and the opportunities which arise from it.

Deputy Headmaster Philip Bowen commented: “It was an intimately ‘Bromsgrovian’ talk with helpful memories of his schooldays for today’s pupils and pertinent examples from his own experience. In a moving ending, he told the Upper Sixth to be bold but above all to be the best Bromsgrovians.”
