Wycliffe is celebrating another set of fantastic GCSE results this morning as large numbers of its pupils surpassed expectations.
Against a national backdrop of more rigorous standards and falling top grades, the school is delighted to announce that nearly a third of all grades were secured at A* and A.
The A*-C rate was 89% (national figure is 69%). When this cohort of pupils joined the non-selective school, testing by the University of Durham suggested that around 67% would achieve that figure. The school had set itself a hugely ambitious target of 85% and even this was exceeded.
New Head, Nick Gregory said “This is a fantastic set of results and I look forward to working with these young people to help them see the same sort of success in our sixth form. To beat predicted grades by more than 20% is an astounding achievement and enormous credit is due to the staff and pupils whose hard work has seen so many successes across the ability range.”
