The Annual Wycliffe College Parents Association History Lecture took place on Monday night. A mix of students, parents, Wycliffe Collegelocal History societies and members of the public heard two riveting lectures from Professor George Bernard of Southampton University.

Speaking entirely without notes, he offered his judgement on The Fall of Cardinal Wolsey and defended his controversial views of The Charges against Anne Boleyn.

He later took a large number of questions from a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable audience.

Lecture organiser and History teacher Kevin Patrick thanked Professor Bernard for being so generous with his time and said, “Our students have benefited enormously from his insights into this period of study.

It gave students a rare glimpse into the ways that professional historians conduct their research. He was most impressive.”
