wycliffe_polo_teamHaving had some great practice in regular matches, this year Wycliffe were entered in the top Division 1 for the first time. Their first match was against Rugby School B team and Wycliffe beat them convincingly 7-0. The next game was against Cheltenham College B team who put up a tougher challenge, but Wycliffe came away with a 5-2 victory.

Wycliffe played the reigning champions Cheltenham College A team in the final. This was a really tough match and everyone played a hard, fast and skilful game. Unfortunately, Wycliffe just missed out on the top spot by 5 goals to 2. Wycliffe ended up coming 2nd overall making us the 2nd best girls’ school polo team in the country.

Wycliffe players that are new to the sport have also had some success. Our novice team consisted of Georgina Chillingworth, Ben Capehorn and a player from Cheltenham College. The first match was against Rugby School and we won 5-2. There followed a convincing 5-0 win against Shrewsbury School with the team playing some imaginative polo. This meant that Wycliffe went into the final against Wellington College. We put up a great fight but eventually lost 3-0. This was a great first tournament for our novice team.
