School Information

Pupils come to Bromsgrove not just because A-level and International
Baccalaureate are taught superbly, but because sport is phenomenal and the
arts fizz. It’s a passionate place with a dash of pizzazz to boot. The School’s
results are excellent and in 2022 pupils gained an average IB score of 39.3
points and 78% A*-B grades at A level. Results are excellent across the board
with maths, the sciences and economics being very popular choices. The
school boasts an extremely varied extra-curricular programme and pupils are
encouraged to participate in activities ranging from creative arts, performing
arts, additional sports and academic extension activities.

Among its 1,600 children aged 2–18, 500-year-old Bromsgrove School has
580 boarding pupils. The School offers a home, not a place to sleep after work.
Bromsgrove’s recent investment in boarding has been immense, and both Prep
and Senior School have witnessed expansion in this area. Prep School boarders
aged from 7 to 13, are housed in a superb state-of-the-art facility, and weekly
as well as full boarding is offered. Boarders of Prep School age have access to
Senior School facilities and enjoy a seamless transition to the Senior School
at 13. The Senior School houses are different, as boarding houses in the best
schools should be, but there are core values and structures shared by all. Each
house has resident houseparents and a dedicated tutor team, doing day and
evening duties on a rota basis: staff are on hand 24 hours a day, seven days
a week. There are no exeats: Bromsgrove is always open at weekends. The
School has a team of nurses who, under the control of the School doctor,
provide on-site medical care in the School’s modern health centre. Pupils enjoy
high-quality varied food from chefs preparing three good meals a day.

International department
Bromsgrove offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma alongside
A-levels in the sixth form and a one-year Pre-IB course for international
pupils aged 15+. The School has an active international students’ department
Bromsgrove School
with dedicated teachers who provide pastoral and academic support,
specialising in the particular needs of international pupils in the School.
Facilities and developments
The School has invested heavily in new boarding, sports and academic
facilities over recent years, in fact the campus has witnessed recent
redevelopment on a scale unparalleled in its history. State-of-the-art,
architecturally striking facilities sit alongside a range of beautiful older
buildings, some dating back to the 1600s. The performing arts have recently
undergone a transformation with new buildings being created for music
and drama including a concert hall, a small theatre, a drama studio and
multiple rehearsal areas, all fully equipped to professional specifications
to give students access to the highest standards of production in order to
support, develop and showcase their performing talents. Sports facilities rival
any in the country; all boarding houses are either brand-new or completely
refurbished; all academic buildings are cutting edge. However the 100 acre
campus remains a peaceful site full of trees, greens and open playing fields.

Location
The School is in the centre of England, 15 miles from both Birmingham and
Worcester, and has easy access to the motorway network, Birmingham
International Airport and railway station, and Heathrow Airport. Transport at
the start and end of each term can be arranged through the School.
