School Information

d’Overbroeck’s is a highly successful, forward-looking and innovative school
in Oxford. We are well known for our excellent teaching and pastoral care,
helping students develop as individuals not just academically. We pride
ourselves on preparing students superbly well for the next stage of their
education, whether that be A-Levels or university.
d’Overbroeck’s is made up of three parts, all located close to each other
in North Oxford, but with their own learning environment specifically
developed for the age group and stage of education that students are at.

The three school sites include:

• A Sixth Form of around 450 students studying A-Levels before going on to
top universities in the UK such as King’s College London, Cambridge, UCL,
Oxford, Imperial and LSE. As well as our own Year 11s, over 130 students
join us just for Sixth Form from the UK and around the world. Students
study in our state-of-the-art Sixth Form centre that was refurbished only
a few years ago. Around 50% of our students are boarders, with 50% day
students. Similarly, we have an approximate split of 50% UK students and
50% international students. Students from around the world choose to
study with us to benefit from small classes (maximum of 12 students per
class), interactive teaching, a wide range of subjects (we offer 36 A-level
subjects) in any combination and a dynamic, happy learning environment.
In 2022, 44% of students achieved A*/A in all A-Level subjects they took,
while 87% of all entries achieved A*-B. In addition to teaching a wide and
varied A-Level curriculum, we focus on developing learning skills and going
beyond the curriculum, for example, with EPQs and our bespoke academic
enrichment programme.

• An international school of approximately 100 students aged 13-16
years-old. Almost all students at The International School board with
us, which is an excellent introduction to studying and living in the
UK. Academic programmes at The International School include: The
Discovery Years (UK Years 9), One-Year IGCSE, Two-Year IGCSE, 4 or
5-term IGCSE and a UK Study Abroad course. Students learn in small
classes (maximum of 12 students per class) and achieve excellent
results. They also learn vital skills such as critical thinking, research and
teamwork, as well as developing a global perspective. Students are
supported by staff who understand the issues arising from studying in
a different country and education system. As such, they make studying
exciting, enjoyable and successful and they make the adjustment to the
UK a happy and friendly experience for our students.

• A day school of around 200 students for 11-16 year-olds where we teach
the GCSE curriculum. This is for local Oxford families.
One of the key differences between d’Overbroeck’s and other UK boarding
schools is our modern approach: we use first names between teachers
and students across the school, which highlights our collaborative and
personal approach to learning. We are very ambitious and our students do
extraordinarily well academically (both in absolute and value-added terms).
They also excel in their university and career choices, which is testament
to the excellent education we provide. However, we want learning to be
more than just exam success; we want it to be an engaging experience
with plenty of opportunities for personal development and achievement,
including sports, activities, competitions, performances and more. We help
students develop as communicators, team players, debaters, negotiators,
thinkers and prepare them for their next stage, whatever that may be. Once
they have studied at d’Overbroeck’s, our students leave us as confident,
happy and successful individuals.
