OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGodolphin School is one of the oldest girls’ boarding schools in the country, being founded in 1726 by Lady Elizabeth Godolphin. The School, which educates girls from 3 to 18 across three separate yet interlinked sites, is located an hour and a half from London by train and less than an hour and a half by road from both Heathrow and Gatwick  Airports.

The School is located on a hill to the east of the city of Salisbury, Wiltshire with a lovely view of the cathedral and the world-famous spire. It is an easy ten-minute walk into Salisbury and the School enjoys the benefits of being in a city location with a countryside atmosphere.

  • Junior boarding – for girls aged 7 to 11
  • Senior boarding – for girls aged 11 to 16
  • Sixth Form boarding – for girls aged 16 to 18.

The junior and senior boarding houses provide the girls with a bright and vibrant base where they are cared for by an experienced team consisting of housemistresses, tutors and pastoral staff. The Sixth Form Centre is made up of two houses which encourage the girls to become more independent. The Sixth Form team are compassionate and caring and the centre includes facilities such as dedicated IT suites, conference rooms, relaxation suites and a Sixth Form Centre Café, which is a proud to serve Costa outlet.

Centre of excellence

Godolphin has become recognised as a centre of excellence with national success in music, sport and art and we are extremely proud of our rich heritage. For almost three centuries the School has been educating generations of girls and striving to equip them with the intellectual, spiritual, moral and physical credentials to lead meaningful and purposeful lives. The legaOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAcy of this long history is the wealth of wisdom, experience and traditional values which underpin and inform the School as it operates today, very much in the 21st Century.

We have a clear, modern outlook and are dedicated to equipping our girls and young women with the knowledge, qualifications, resilience and character to take their place and be successful in the increasingly challenging world they will inherit.

The culture of friendship, encouragement, support and mutual respect within School is empowering and individuality is celebrated very firmly in the context of an inclusive, supportive and dynamic community. Beyond the security and care of our home environment we energetically and proactively provide the girls with opportunities to engage with the world at large.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs well as achieving optimum academic results we believe it is our duty to be facilitating the development of confident, aware, well informed independent young women with a sense of adventure and real zest for life. We achieve this through excellent teaching, exceptional pastoral care and a comprehensive programme of co-curricular initiatives.

Choosing the right school for a child is a complex and many layered process. A decision that is deeply accountable. At Godolphin we believe that at the core of an effective education lies a partnership between parents, staff and the pupil. Communication is key and we strive for real integrity in this relationship.

Godolphin provides an enriching and challenging education within a strong community, enabling each girl to fulfil her potential and embrace her future with confidence.
