School Information

Kingswood Prep School is a happy and thriving school. We aim to foster positive attitudes and a ‘can-do’ mindset by encouraging children to explore a balanced and holistic curriculum. Our excellent staff want all of our pupils to feel good about their learning and to be confident about who they are. Believing in yourself while still being kind to others is a key ingredient of a KPS education.

A wealth of opportunity
Our children have the benefit of learning within award-winning designed buildings, set within a parkland area to the south of the Senior School campus. Kingswood Prep School encompasses a bespoke Nursery and Reception space which provides a wonderful setting for children from nine months to grow and flourish. The development also includes Bath’s first educational STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and Innovation Centre. This unique, inspirational and unrivalled learning environment equips children with the practical skills they will need in an ever-changing workplace. The children play a variety of competitive sports including hockey, rugby and netball as a regular part of the curriculum, alongside sports as diverse as duathlon, orienteering and golf. There are opportunities, for those who are interested, to take part in the Mid-Somerset Festival for music and drama, English Speaking Board Awards, as well as LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) certification.

Enquiring and well-informed minds
Academically, we set high standards and have an excellent record of securing scholarships to our Senior School. We teach a broad and balanced curriculum which takes into account the basis of the National Curriculum and is differentiated in order to develop lively, enquiring and well-informed minds. Our purpose is to instil a love of learning and an opportunity for each individual to reach their potential.

Pastoral care
Wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do at KPS. We know that happy children learn better and can thrive. Our outstanding Form teachers provide day to day pastoral care but each child is able to talk to a variety of staff – Learning Assistants, Class Teacher, Phase Leader, Deputy Head Pastoral, the Chaplain and for those more tricky times, the school counsellor. Every adult at KPS takes responsibility for knowing your child individually and for understanding how they learn, what makes them happy and how to support their development and wellbeing. It is through these relationships, that your child’s personality, friendships, passions and interests are developed, nurtured and celebrated. The strength of these relationships is clear when you walk through the corridors of school. The laughter, friendship and KPS ‘buzz’ is commented on by every visitor to the school and is truly unique to KPS. Our aim is that our pupils leave KPS happy and confident, with a secure sense of self, amazing memories, and lifelong interests so that they can thrive in the next stage of their education and make a positive contribution to the community and wider world.
