School Information
About the School
Mill Hill School is at the heart of The Mill Hill School Foundation dating back to
1807, which also includes our Pre-Prep, Grimsdell; our Prep, Belmont, Mill Hill
International, Cobham Hall School, in Kent and our most recent additions, Keble
Prep and Lyonsdown School in North London. At Mill Hill School, pupils are
supported in their personal development and encouraged to make the most of
their abilities and interests, both inside and outside the classroom. Our schools in
Mill Hill are set in an enviable location with over 150 acres of beautiful grounds
just a short tube ride from central London. We believe that the fresh air and open
space we enjoy enhance the experience for pupils and staff.
Our Values and Culture
The importance of moral integrity is central to our values as a school. We
seek to educate young people who will be able to contribute to society, both
now and in the future. Our learning community brings pupils of different
cultures and backgrounds together and helps them to understand the
importance of respect in their everyday lives.
Celebrated for its pastoral care, Mill Hill School provides all pupils with the
supportive environment of a Day or Boarding House, dedicated spaces and
staff teams who guide pupils on their journey through the School.
Education & Co-curricular
Mill Hill School’s educational philosophy is based on offering breadth
and balance, complementing the academic with the co-curricular, the
technological with the traditional and individuality with a sense of community.
In 2022, 45% of pupils achieved an A* or A in their A Level. Many pupils
gained places at their first-choice university, including two to the University of
Cambridge and two to study Medicine. Popular university destinations were

of Warwick and University of Exeter.
Competitive and recreational sport has a special place in the lives of our
pupils. We offer a vast range of sporting activities with expert training and
coaching for all ability levels. Our sports facilities include a well-equipped
sports hall and gym; courts for Eton Fives, tennis and netball courts; facilities
for rugby, hockey, cricket and football; and an indoor heated swimming pool.
Finally, a wide range of opportunities exists for those wishing to perform.
There is truly something for everyone, from the formality of the chapel choir
and string orchestra to the style and energy of the jazz band and glee club.
Academic Music is a popular choice, available at both GCSE and A Level. Pupils
also benefit from the excellent facilities of the McClure Music School, which is
fully equipped with a recital hall, recording studio and practice suites.

Scholarships and Bursaries
A wide range of awards are offered to pupils entering the Fourth Form and Sixth Form (Years 9 and 12). These awards broadly fall into two categories: Scholarships and Bursaries.
Scholarships, a maximum of 10% fee remission, are available to pupils who show exceptional talent in a variety of areas both in the classroom and outside of it. In addition to major awards, there are a number of minor awards or exhibitions also on offer. The Head, Deputy Head or the Assistant Registrar are happy to advise parents and feeder schools about any of these awards.
Means-tested bursaries are available to new entrants to the School. Such awards are intended to extend the benefits of a Mill Hill education to pupils whose families would not otherwise be able to afford the School’s fees. In addition, the School makes provision for the award of hardship bursaries to assist families who experience sudden and unexpected hardship. Bursaries are funded from the School’s fee income, supplemented by contributions to The Mill Hill School Foundation Appeal. Bursary awards are made by the Court of Governors upon the recommendation of the Foundation Bursary Committee.
Families wishing to apply for financial support are encouraged to request a Bursary Application Form which is available from the Bursar’s office bursaries@millhill.org.uk.
