We provide a positive, constructive and inspiring single-sex community within which they thrive and flourish. Education is carefully planned to motivate boys; the academic curriculum is specifically tailored to them, and they engage in a broad choice of subjects. Our boys’ talents are nurtured and they make the most of the area’s wonderful natural resources and the excellent facilities on offer for sports, culture and the arts. Through our unique Monmouth Model, our boys also benefit from the invaluable interaction with Monmouth School for Girls, sharing many trips and expeditions, events and community projects. Understanding the pressures of adolescence, our focused approach prepares boys for Sixth Form, where they have the confidence to aim high in their specialist academic subjects and to fulfil their particular sporting, musical or artistic ambitions.

WWW.PAULBROADRICK.COMMonmouth Schools Sixth Form brings day and boarding boys and girls together at this final stage of their educational journey with us, recognising their greater maturity and focus. We offer the benefits of single-sex pastoral care within a co-educational academic environment. Teaching Sixth Form students together encourages a wider range of views in lessons. Pupils enjoy a broad range of academic subjects from which to choose. They are encouraged to explore further their academic interests and to make the most of the shared schools’ facilities, while also benefiting from outstanding opportunities for sports, culture and the arts.

Sixth Formers enjoy a vibrant calendar of speakers and societies, joint school musical and dramatic performances, trips and expeditions, social events and shared community projects. Our aim is to pave the way for a smooth transition between school and university. Extensive careers advice and careful guidance through university applications, combined with excellent results, mean that virtually all Monmouth pupils gain places at their first or second choice university.

Home from home

The boarding community is an integral part of life for the Haberdashers’ Monmouth family, with around 320 pupils calling the schools home. Creating a nurturing environment where children feel comfortable, happy and inspired to aim high in everything they do is our main priority.

Dedicated boarding houses for juniors, seniors and sixth formers offer all the advantages of single-sex education, with time and space planned for prep in each house. And there is always a busy programme of joint activities, sports and excursions at the weekends. Our boarders form lifelong friendships, lovely memories and a strong sense of society during their time here.  Around 60% of our boarders are British and we have an exciting cross-section of international boarders from all over the world. Additional support is offered to those for whom English is a second language. All trips to airports are accompanied by a member of staff.

Set in the historic county town of Monmouth, Wales, the school is just two hours away from Heathrow, 45 minutes from Bristol and 1 hour away from Birmingham airports. Accompanied transfers are arranged to and from the airports.

Future plans

Attention is now being turned to developing plans to refurbish its science department, and to continue upgrading boarding accommodation.  Science is incredibly important for both schools, with an impressive number of boys and girls opting to study sciences, maths and computer science at A level.
