School Information

Mander Portman Woodward (MPW)
When it comes to a good education, one size does not necessarily fit
all. At MPW, one of the UK’s best-known names in fifth and sixth-form
education, we have been offering a distinctive alternative to traditional
schools for 50 years.

A unique teaching approach
Students choose their own paths with university foundation programmes,
or GCSEs and A-levels offered in over 45 subjects, taught in small Oxbridgestyle tutorial groups. Each student has a personal tutor, who provides them
with tailored academic and pastoral support.
Enter an MPW college and you will immediately sense the relaxed, yet
focused atmosphere. Students are respected as young adults; there is no
school uniform, they are on first-name terms with their tutors and are
encouraged to take responsibility for themselves.

Outstanding results and progression
Our approach is reflected in consistently outstanding results and university
progression. In 2022, the most commonly achieved A level result was A*/A,
with two thirds of MPW students’ UK university placements at Russell
Group, specialist universities and other University of London colleges. In
addition, all 24 Russell Group universities accepted MPW students.
Your route to the UK’s best universities
Securing those prestigious university places is an MPW speciality – students
enjoy unrivalled support in completing UCAS applications by the same
experts who put together the renowned Getting into series of university
application guides.

A home away from home
At MPW London, students stay in our stylish new boarding facility, located
moments away from world-renowned cultural attractions and Hyde Park.
KSS, a wholly owned subsidiary of MPW, provides comfortable, supervised
residences exclusively for students studying at MPW Birmingham and MPW
Cambridge.
