School Information

Specialist Sixth Form
Oxford Sixth Form College is a highly successful independent college located
in the heart of Oxford. We specialise in A-Level, BTEC, GCSE and Pre-A-Level
courses for students aged 15-19. We specialise in A-Level, BTEC, GCSE and
Pre-A-Level courses for students aged 15-19. Established in 1988, the college
has gained an excellent reputation for providing effective preparation for public
examinations and university entry, achieved by thorough, exam-specific teaching
and close attention to the needs of each individual student.

Perfect location
Our location, just an hour from London and in the very heart of the city of
Oxford, with neighbours including University of Oxford colleges Oriel and
Christchurch, is steeped in academic history and one that serves to inspire
our students and us to build a successful future.

Course options
Alongside two-year A-Levels we offer an intensive one-year A-Level programme
and a 5-term programme, allowing flexibility to students joining partway
through Sixth Form. We also offer BTEC Business, including BTEC Business
Plus where students study an A-Level alongside their BTEC Business course. In
addition to our sixth form programmes we also offer a one-year GCSE course. For
international students who don’t quite meet our IELTS requirements for A-Level
study, we offer a Pre-A-Level programme that runs alongside our One-Year GCSE
programme and helps students develop their academic language skills.

Informal teaching style
Oxford Sixth Form College offers an environment quite different from that
of a traditional school. The teaching approach is refreshingly interactive and
informal. The emphasis on small group work enables a clear focus on individual
needs and learning styles and a variation of pace and emphasis, which helps
students to approach their work calmly and objectively. The support provided
both by subject tutors and each student’s Senior Tutor is thoughtful and
creative and students are encouraged at every stage to take an active part in
the learning process through self-motivation, involvement, personal study and
research. This is important preparation for higher education.

Not just academic success
We offer various, non-compulsory activities which enable students to
explore and develop the skills they will need in later life. Our college is
friendly, welcoming and a home away from home for young people of
Oxford Sixth Form College
many different cultures. There are plenty of social events throughout the
year to help you get to know your fellow students better. We celebrate
and welcome the cultural diversity, ambition and global outlook that
international students bring to the college and aim to give both international
and British students the best UK education experience.

University Access
Our students progress to a wide range of degree programmes at top U.K.
universities including business management and economics; mathematics,
engineering and computer science; medicine and law; art and creative media;
history and international relations.

Admissions & Scholarships
Although our entry criteria are non-selective, students are required to have an IELTS
score of 5.0 to join an A-Level or BTEC course, as well as having completed 12 years
of schooling.
