School Information

The place to achieve:
Prior’s Field offers a distinctive route to high achievement for every girl. Situated
in beautiful parkland but just 45 minutes from central London the school offers a
fantastic campus and a wealth of opportunities. Founded in 1902 by a pioneering
educationalist, Prior’s Field continues to stretch and challenge students to achieve
and celebrated 87% A*- B at A level in our most recent results.
Visitors to the school, are greeted by an impressive silver statue of a stately
unicorn on arrival, and we are delighted to have been recently described as “the
Unicorn of Education – the stuff of childhood dreams” in the Tatler Schools Guide.

A world of opportunities:
Here girls are encouraged to grasp opportunities – from taking to the court
in the elite Tennis Academy, adopting leading roles in a West End calibre
cast, designing electric guitars at lunchtime, creating artwork worthy of
public display, scaling a glacier or rising to the challenge of young chemist
of the year. It’s where girls are happy and confident enough to take risks,
inspired by talented teachers, and enjoy positive, engaging relationships.

Celebrating achievement in the round:
As a relatively small senior school of just under 400 girls, aged 11-18, we are
focused on the development of unique individuals and have a top priority
of achieving happy girls as a springboard for success. Our ethos is clear “We
celebrate achievement in the round – creatively, actively, pastorally, and yes
of course academically – but not to the exclusion of everything else. Our
interest is in the whole girl; her achievement in everything she does and
every aspect of her school life.

The curriculum and beyond:
A Prior’s Field education is as diverse as the ambitions of the girls. We offer a
broad education which goes beyond the National Curriculum: with a strong
emphasis on independent learning, creativity and problem solving. Just about
every interest is catered for through an impressive range of over 40 termly
clubs including: climbing, circus skills, sculpture club, scouts and funky food.
There are also many extension options like the Huxley Squad for Academic
scholars, the exceptionally able and those who are just curious.

Exam success for all:
We deliberately take a broad but cohesive cohort into the school, to include
some girls with specific learning and pastoral needs. But our success stories
abound, and we see many of our girls join top Universities and Degree
Apprenticeships such as Engineering with Rolls Royce. Cambridge, Durham,
Warwick, St Andrews, and Exeter are just some of the Universities which
Prior’s Field’s Sixth Form have headed to in recent years.
Catering for modern family life.
As a thriving day and boarding school, the school offers extensive wraparound care options which include, breakfast and supper clubs, flexi, weekly
and full boarding. Excellent facilities include a new Science, Music and
Technology centre, with flagship interactive technology to support girls’
learning; an all-weather sports pitch; tennis academy for pupils of exceptional
ability; superb Creative Arts centre; and a separate Sixth Form House with
quiet study areas, social loft space and ensuite bedrooms.

Scholarships and bursaries
Scholarships and Exhibitions for Promise are awarded to pupils entering at
11+, 13+ and Sixth Form who display above average ability academically

boarding places for those in receipt of CEA.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships – academic and in Art, Music, Drama and Sport – are available at the main entry points of 11+, 13+ and 16+; Exhibitions for Promise, for girls who have not attained Scholarship level, but nevertheless show above average aptitude, are also offered at 11+ entry. Bursaries are available at all points of entry and may be up to 100% of fees, for those who would not otherwise be able to access an independent school education. There is a 10% reduction in fees for the daughters of Old Girls and, in certain circumstances, siblings. A Forces discount of 20% applies.

Student Profile

We seek girls who are sparky, curious about life and learning, show initiative and have a desire to involve themselves in the many activities and opportunities – both academic and extra-curricular – that are offered. The school provides an excellent all-round education which caters for students of all abilities and interests, with well-established programmes in place for the exceptionally able and those needing learning support in specific areas. Our girls learn to hold true to themselves, their work ethic, their friends and humanity; they chase their dreams.
