queenswoodQueenswood is a progressive boarding and day school for around 420 girls, aged between 11 and 18, where boarders make up half of the school. We are an outstanding environment for learning – big enough to provide priceless opportunities, small enough that every student is an individual. Here, girls gain the courage and conviction to test themselves against the highest standards in every field. Intellectual rigour is commended, but never at the expense of breadth and depth of experience. We pride ourselves on the huge range of co-curricular activities available to the girls.

Students of the highest ability thrive here – in the summer of 2015, our students achieved 77% A*–B at A-level/Pre-U and 48% of all grades were A*. At GCSE, 80% A*–A and 46% of all grades achieved were A*. But we pride ourselves on measurably raising the academic profile of all our girls. A recent parent put it succinctly: ‘Queenswood provides the results without the tears.’ Small teaching groups guarantee that pupils are challenged and supported. There are many opportunities for group discussion, and independent thinking is encouraged. Students proceed to the best universities both in the UK and abroad to read a wide range of subjects. In recent years, Queenswoodians have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge to read linguistics, law, natural sciences, modern foreign languages and geography.

We are preparing girls to compete in the global marketplace, and we give them the resilience and adaptability to be able to challenge themselves in unexpected areas. We aim to instil a sense of pride when they triumph and – just as importantly – a sense of perspective when they fail. There are numerous leadership opportunities: as well as a traditional team of Sixth Form prefects, each house, from the Lower School upwards, has its team of leaders.

Queenswood is pq 2roud to be an international community with an outward-looking approach; overseas girls make up around 20% of the pupils. We currently have students from 24 different countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Egypt, France, Japan, Thailand and the USA. We welcome girls of all faiths and none; whilst recognising and supporting an individual’s adherence to her own faith, we expect all girls to embrace the school’s broad spiritual ethos.

The beautiful Queenswood estate provides the perfect educational environment. Being just 20 minutes from central London, it has the advantage of easy access to the cultural richness of the capital. At the same time, its proximity to major international airports provides ease of travel both for our overseas girls and for those participating in

the school’s foreign exchange and visit programmes.

A modern girls’ school to which others should aspire. A winning combination of traditional values with a broad, forward-looking education to equip bright young women with the integrity and self-belief to make a difference in the world of the future. Good Schools Guide.
