School Information
Royal High School Bath is a leading independent day and boarding
school for girls aged 3-18 situated on the edge of the beautiful city
of Bath. We provide an outstanding, girl-centred, contemporary
education as individual as the students in our school.
We are proud to be part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, the leading network
of independent girls’ schools in the UK. As part of the Girls Day School
Trust the School has strong values – girls first, forward-thinking and
fearless. As the only boarding school in the group, Royal High School offers
homely and stylish, modern living for girls in Years 7-11 and in the separate
Sixth Form boarding house.
Sixth Form students can choose either A Level or International
Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as their pathway to university –
students consistently achieve excellent grades and access to their firstchoice university in the UK and overseas. IB students regularly achieve well
above the global average and in 2022, we achieved an average point score
per student of 37.4 (6 points higher than the global average).
Students are supported to be the best they can be today and in their lives
beyond school; in all that they do, Royal High School Bath students are
girls making their mark.
“Students are encouraged to be brave, resilient, independent thinkers; developing new skills whilst
being supported by our welcoming community.” – Mrs Kate Reynolds, Head Teache
Scholarships and Bursaries
Academic scholarships:
Year 7 - all applicants, internal and external, are automatically entered for Academic scholarships which are awarded to the top tier results, typically about 10% of the cohort.
Year 9 and 12 - applicants must apply via an application form.
Specialist scholarships:
Year 7, 9 and 12 – applicants complete an application form with supporting statement. For some scholarships supporting material may be needed. Scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to their department. For this reason, candidates may only apply for one specialist scholarship. An academic scholar may also hold a specialist scholarship if, in the opinion of the School, they are considered able enough to contribute meaningfully both academically and in their specialist department without this impacting their performance or wellbeing. Specialist scholars are expected to study their subject for GCSE and IB/A Level.
Head’s Awards:
These may be given, at the Head’s discretion, to applicants who narrowly miss out on a scholarship but nonetheless demonstrated high levels of talent, ability, dedication and community spirit based on their performance in the scholarship assessment, interview and reference from their current school. It is not possible to make a specific application for a Head’s Award and these are not necessarily awarded every year.
