School Information

Sedbergh International Summer School is a British Council accredited
summer school for pupils aged 8 to 17, owned and operated by
Sedbergh School.

At Sedbergh, we are proud to boast a reputation that reflects over 500
years of tradition and heritage. We believe that the Sedbergh International
Summer School experience is unique. We provide an exceptional education
with outstanding pastoral care and numerous opportunities for our pupils
to make connections with other pupils from around the world. From the
moment they step off the plane to the moment they arrive home, our pupils
are provided with countless opportunities to develop their English alongside
those more ‘real life’ skills so important in today’s world. All of this is
enhanced by our incredible location in the heart of the British Countryside.
During the months of July and August a variety of courses are available for
pupils, these include:

  • English + Multi Sports
  • English + Multi Activities
  • English + Outdoor Adventure
  • IELTS Preparation + Official Examination
  • Cambridge English + Official Examination
  • The Leadership & International Relations Academy (LIRA)

  • Our English+ courses are available to both junior (aged 8-12 years) and
senior pupils (aged 13-17 years) and offer the perfect opportunity for pupils
wishing to improve their English language skills. Pupils are able to choose
    from a selection of different academies (Multi-Activities / Multi-Sports /
Outdoor Adventure) to enhance their Sedbergh experience. Making the
most of our enviable location and the range of activities on offer, pupils can
choose a different academy for each week of the summer school. Led by a
team of expert instructors, our Outdoor Adventure Programme makes the
most of our location between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National
Parks. Pupils will spend several afternoons a week making the most of a
range of outdoor activities such as climbing, caving, kayaking/canoeing and
ghyll scrambling. Pupils will also enjoy 2 full day excursions a week.
LIRA is a bespoke, transformative, 2-week development programme for 15-
17 year olds. The course combines personal coaching, experiential learning and
fun excursions to support pupils as they examine the attributes and develop
the necessary skills to become effective leaders of the future. Designed as a
progressive curriculum that continuously stretches the pupils as they develop
their self-awareness, self-confidence, initiative and resilience whilst improving
their critical thinking, communication and teamworking skills, pupils will be
provided with a safe and supportive environment in which they can nurture
these attributes, practicing the different behaviours learned throughout
the programme through a combination of individual working, group tasks/
challenges, practical workshops, outdoor activities and excursions.
We look forward to sharing our school and our surroundings with you for
another wonderful summer of fun and friendship.

  • Let the adventure begin
