Sedbergh School
Nestled amongst the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales, Sedbergh
School is a traditional, co-educational, boarding school. Established in 1525, it is one
of the few remaining full boarding schools in the UK with 97% of pupils boarding
seven days a week. The School operates a traditional boarding house system with
resident housemasters and housemistresses, tutors and matrons, thus ensuring
genuine 24/7 pastoral care. The School has retained its traditional values and ethos,
providing an all-round education whilst facing the demands of the 21st century in
terms of excellent teaching, facilities and an extensive extracurricular programme.
Sedbergh School operates a series of summer courses in a range of sports and
activities and a first-class British Council accredited International Summer School.

Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School
The Preparatory School is located in the nearby village of Casterton, a 15-minute
drive from Sedbergh. It provides a first-rate education for boys and girls from
age 4, and offers day, weekly and full boarding from the age of 8. With Saturday
morning school and a full range of weekend activities all taking place in truly
outstanding facilities, boarders have many opportunities to develop and pursue
a wide sphere of interests. Pupils enter Sedbergh School at the age of 13. Both
Schools benefit from excellent road and rail links, with Manchester and Liverpool
International Airports only 90 minutes away. The on-site Mulberry Bush Nursery
provides a safe, home-from-home for children aged 0-4 years old.

Academic and sporting achievements
As a full boarding school, pupils benefit from a meticulous tutoring and pastoral
system alongside first-class teaching, resulting in almost 100% pass rates at
A-level and GCSE. Pupils can expect to go on to the university of their choice, and
entry to Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities continues to be strong.
Sedbergh was recently placed in the top 10% of schools in Britain for the progress
pupils made between GCSE and A-level. Sedbergh has an outstanding sporting
reputation, recently pupils have achieved international, national and regional titles
in rugby, athletics, netball, shooting, equestrian (dressage, arena eventing and
show jumping), hockey, tennis, cricket and golf. Sedbergh offers a wide range of
opportunities beyond the classroom, and provides a happy and caring environment
