Set in over 50 acres of grounds and surrounded by glorious Oxfordshire countryside, Sibford School provides a rural haven where pupils can flourish and develop. Nonetheless, its central location (50 miles from Birmingham and 90 miles from London) means that museums, galleries, theatres, exhibitions, stadiums and much more are all within easy access.

‘I had never been to a boarding school before moving here from Germany, but I immediately felt very much at home and part of the Sibford family.’ Current Boarder.

Pupils can board at Sibford from the age of 11 and form part of a friendly community where they are valued and well cared for. Sibford has three boarding houses, one each for boys and girls aged between 11 and 16, and a mixed house for sixth form students. The houses are run by experienced house parents who provide a welcoming, family-style environment. Facilities include comfortable recreational area, small student kitchen and fully equipped bath and shower rooms. All houses have Wi-Fi connectivity. Typically, younger boarders will share a bedroom with two or three others, while in sixth form, students will have their own study bedroom, or share a twin room.

Global community

‘The ESOL teachers at Sibford are so helpful and understanding. My English has improved lots since I have been here.’ Boarder since 2013

Sibford is home to a small international community that welcomes students from across the world and helps them to learn and perfect their English language skills. We have a dedicated ESOL department that provides students with first-class learning conditions in small groups where modern and interactive teaching methods are combined with more traditional approaches.

Encouraging excellence

‘Our daughter was delighted with her results, particularly her A* and A grades. You should be proud of the culture and learning environment you have created to enable to students to thrive.’ Parent.

IMG_6177Sibford School was established in 1842 as a co-educational boarding school for the children of Quaker families. Over the years the school has undergone many changes, however, the Quaker values, which seek to recognise that of God in everyone, remain at the heart of all we do. Translated into everyday life, this means valuing and nurturing individual talents, respecting each other, and helping each individual to become the very best they possibly can. We believe that each child is talented, each is different and that all are valued. Students are encouraged to grow in confidence, to broaden their horizons, to demonstrate curiosity and to think independently. All disciplines are equally respected and pupils are taught in small classes where dedicated teachers nurture, inspire and challenge.
