Academic excellence

Wycliffe has welcomed British expat and international boarding students into its active and happy school community for many years. They are supported so they achieve academic excellence. Sixth Formers progress on to the universities of their choice. At GCSE, there are 22 options on offer. In the Sixth Form over 30 subjects can be chosen from – ranging from the traditional subjects to more specialist fields. For those wishing to pursue more practically based courses, there are BTEC National Diplomas in Sport or Travel & Tourism. Each is the equivalent of up to two A-levels and can be studied alongside a traditional A-level. Please look at our website for results. Wycliffe is also the South/West SAT Test Centre for US universities entry.

One Year GCSE programme/Pre-A level Development Year for international pupils

The Pre-A level Development Year develops the English language, study skills and subject knowledge for pupils from overseas to the required level to enter the Sixth Form. During the year, they are integrated into all aspects of school life, yet their lessons are targeted to their needs rather than purely exam-focused.

Sport for all

The College has some of the region’s finest sports facilities and leading specialist coaches (partnerships with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club Academy and Pentathlon GB). Wycliffe has a reputation as one of the top schools for squash in the country. There is also a gym, equipped to private health club standards.

Creative and performing arts

For those more at home on the stage than the sports field, there are many opportunities to practise and perform – whether musically, with the choir, orchestra, jazz band or string group, or dramatically as part of the regular school productions or Youth Theatre. Tours take place frequently to impressive locations ranging from European destinations or further afield, such as the recent music tour to America.

Significant bursaries and scholarships

Scholarships are available for those joining at 11+, 13+ and 16+ for academic excellence and in music, sport, or design & technology.

Generous Armed Forces discount

Wycliffe offers a generous discount to support families serving in the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, RAF) so that the maximum school fees payable are 10% of the published rates. Further information is available upon request.

Pupil testimonial

To me, Wycliffe is not just my school, but my home. My years here have been enriched by the friends I have made, which I know, will be friends for life. Without the help and constant support of the my teachers, my life long goal of studying medicine at university would not have come to fruition and I am forever grateful for being given the opportunity to thrive, both academically and otherwise. I cannot think of anywhere I would have preferred to spend my school years. Anna Fishwick, Year 13 pupil
