Bromsgrove athletics team crowned regional champions

Bromsgrove School’s Year 8 boys’ athletics team have been crowned Midlands Champions of the ESAA Track and Field Cup.

The team will now compete as one of twelve schools from over 500 initial entries at the National Final in Gateshead next month.

Neil Cai and Fyodor Shaskin both achieved new personal bests in the hammer, scoring over 50 points between them. Cyrus Passman ran a personal best in the 800 metres, with Louis Upton scoring 28 points in the 80 metres hurdles.

There were personal bests also for Morgan McKinley in the 200 metres, Thando Best in the 80 metres hurdles and Harry Draper-Barr in the 300 metres, with the latter, breaking a 21 year old school record in the discus with a throw of 33.45 metres.

Zach Armstong extended his own school record in the shot, Louis Upton threw a life time best in the javelin of just under 34 metres and Alexander Holroyd achieved a new personal best in the high jump.
