Bromsgrove Preparatory School’s U13A boys’ hockey team have qualified for the National IAPS hockey finals.

The Worcestershire-based school won their group with victories over King’s Hall 1-0, Perrott Hill 2-0 and St Hughes 3-0, keeping a clean sheet in every match.

In the quarter final against New College, the game ended 1-1 and they coud;n’t be separated in Golden Goal, meaning the match was decided by Penalty Flicks. Bromsgrove won with two converted flicks from Joe K and Jack W, with Neel A in goal saving two flicks to not only qualify for the semi-final but also for the National Finals.

Bromsgrove came up against a strong Cheltenham College side in the semi finals, with the latter knocking out last year’s National champions in their previous match. The team held their own in an evenly contested game but conceded at the end.

Their tournament ended on a high with a 1-0 victory over Hazelgrove 1-0, earning a highly deserved third place.
