Bromsgrove School’s 1st netball team have won a bronze medal in the English Schools’ Netball Finals and are now 3rd in the country.

The top eighteen schools in the country contested the titles on Saturday 16th March at Stanborough School.  With winds reaching up to 50mph on the day, conditions proved challenging, but the U19 Bromsgrove team came top in their eight games.  In the semi-final, Bromsgrove faced The Grammar School at Leeds, which they unfortunately lost 10-8 but went on to beat Millfield School 12-8 in the 3rd/4th play-off to secure the bronze medal.

The team were also recently crowned National Independent Schools’ Cup champions in a thrilling final, played at the University of Hertfordshire Sports Village on Friday 8th March, where they fought back from a Millfield 16-9 lead, to win 53-47.

The U14 Netball team competed very well in the National finals to finish in the top 10 in the country.

Both teams have had an excellent run, having also been crowned Regional Champions on 27th January, after qualifying through District and County rounds to represent Worcestershire.

Mrs Emma Buckingham, Head of Girls’ PE and Games at the School, said: “I am immensely proud of this group of girls.  They have performed to a consistently high standard all season, which has taken them to the finals of three national competitions.  Their attitude, hard work and commitment has been a credit to both the School and themselves and it has been a pleasure to coach them.”
