Twenty-four Year 8 students recently attended the Faraday Challenge STEM Day at Kingswood School.

The competition, organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, aims to promote and encourage budding young engineers by challenging them with real life scenarios.

Pupils were tasked with designing and modelling something that could help aid workers in the context of a natural disaster.

The teams had to plan, budget, develop, construct and present their ideas to the rest of the groups and the engineers.

Kingswood School’s team, consisting of Monty, Charlie, Orla, Leo, Sophia and Eleanor were victorious with their solar powered drone prototype. They are waiting to see if their score will put them in the national finals this summer.
