Business-minded students from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools have advanced to the UK Young Enterprise National Final.

MySlides, formed by A Level students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, scooped three awards at the Welsh final on Monday, winning the Welsh Young Enterprise Company of the Year, Best Company Report, and the Digital Award.

The team previously won four awards in the regional final and was named as the Best Company in the Newport & Monmouthshire area.

MySlides prints eye-catching personalised logos, patterns and pictures on to slider shoes.

Adam Taylor, head of MySlides, said: “I am immensely proud of the company for achieving the company of the year.

“The development of our sliders has been a long and challenging process in which we have grown and learnt so much.

“I am also very proud of the team for stepping up and answering challenging questions from the judges and members who delivered our presentation.

“The success of MySlides can be put down to the identification of a strong gap in the market and then our tireless hard work to refine our product to a marketable standard.”

It was the third year in a row that a team from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools had reached the Welsh final, and the first time that the school has entered mixed teams.

They will now represent Wales at the national final in London next month.
