School Information

THE SCHOOL
Founded in 1879, St Lawrence College is a thriving co-educational day
and boarding school, providing a first class education. A combination
of dedicated teachers, a broad and challenging curriculum, strong work
ethic and focus on core educational skills combine to create an inspiring,
stimulating and purposeful learning experience for our pupils. There
is an emphasis on pastoral care with round-the-clock support from
housemasters and housemistresses, the chaplain and tutors. The school is
a home-from-home, with a warm and friendly feel. Every child is given the
confidence to find their identity on a personal journey of discovery.
This is underpinned by High Performance Learning; an understanding
that intelligence is not fixed and that high performance education is
achievable by all. We are proud to be one of the first independent
schools globally to have been granted the status of a World Class High
Performance Learning School.

EXTRA CURRICULAR
Our Sports Excellence Programme caters for our national and international
level athletes and this, combined with a number of current and exinternational sports coaches, has helped us guide our teams to a number
of national championship finals. There are a vast range of opportunities
for pupils to immerse themselves in the Creative Arts both academically
and as part of their co-curricular options. This consists of Drama, Music,
Dance, LAMDA and Art partnered with excellent facilities to allow pupils to
maximise their full potential in their chosen areas. All pupils benefit from
an extensive activities programme which in the Senior School includes the
Combined Cadet Force and a thriving Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

BOARDING
Our ‘boarding family’ starts from age 7 upwards and boarders make up
around one third of pupils with over 20 nationalities represented in our
community. With three boarding houses, offering exceptional pastoral care,
academic support and access to extra-curricular activities, it’s no surprise
that we are listed in the 2023 Fortune’s World Leading Boarding Schools.

LOCATION
Located in the Kent coastal town of Ramsgate, and within easy walking
distance of the sea, the school is set in 45 acres of safe and spacious grounds,
housing both beautiful historic architecture and outstanding contemporary
facilities. The high-speed train service links Ramsgate in 75 minutes to
London St Pancras International Station and the School is within 2 hrs of
London airports. Rail and Ferry links to the continent are excellent with the
Port of Dover/Eurostar only 40 minutes awa
