About
Oswestry School was founded in 1407 and is over 600 years old. We
welcome boys and girls ages 11-19 as boarders and ages 4-18 as day pupils.
The senior school (age 11+) has 365 pupils, of which 30% are boarders.

Location
Oswestry is a very safe location, far away from big cities and the local
community are friendly and welcoming. Manchester Airport is 90 minutes
away and we offer free transfers at the start and end of each term.

Campus
The school is situated in over 20 hectares of grounds. The beautiful campus
has extensive playing fields, an all-weather pitch, pretty gardens, an indoor
sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, indoor tennis courts plus lots more!

Academic programmes
Oswestry School offers the following; pre GCSE; two year GCSE; two year
A level ; and one year pre Sixth Form programme. 45% of our overseas
Sixth Form go on to Russell Group universities.

Boarding
The school offers a full range of after school and weekend activities
– boarders are kept busy. The boarding houses are clean and modern and
there is plenty of tasty fresh food to keep boarders happy. At Oswestry
School there are no exeats.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships Scholarships and Exhibitions are offered to overseas candidates on entry to the Senior School. These are available for pupils who wish to enter Y5, Y7, Y9 or the Lower Sixth. Scholarships and Exhibitions can give remission of up to 50% of the value of the fees. These are available for general academic excellence and for excellence in music, art or sport. Scholarships and Exhibitions are awarded on academic merit; this being gauged by examination, audition or assessment. For academic scholarships for entry to Y5 and Y7, candidates sit papers in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. For those wishing to enter Y9, there are papers in Mathematics, English and two subject specific papers. For those entering the Sixth Form, there is a general paper and two subject specific papers. An award made is normally held until the pupil leaves the School, provided that, in the opinion of the Headmaster, satisfactory progress is maintained. Academic examinations and assessments for music, art and sport are held each year in late January/early February for entry the following September. For academic examinations, the School can send papers out to local British Council offices or to the candidate’s school for them to take.
